Luca Fluri — Software Engineer & Researcher
Hello there! I'm Luca Fluri, a Software Engineer based in Basel, Switzerland. I build a wide range of software, from web apps and real-time 3D to XR and machine learning. Most of it happens with industry partners at the Institute for Interactive Technologies at FHNW, where I also aid in teaching and supervise student projects. Outside of work I travel, take photos and tinker with small hardware projects at home.
More of my work and teaching lives on this site.

Full-time at the Institute for Interactive Technologies. I build software with industry partners, at the moment segmentation models for ultrasonic imaging data, supervise student projects, and co-lead the extended reality and 3D user interface design courses.
Research Assistant at the Institute for Interactive Technologies (50-60% position) while pursuing a Master's degree in Engineering with specialization in Computer Science at FHNW, completed in September 2024.
Alongside my studies I built a browser-based light simulator for a lighting manufacturer and AR and VR apps for Solextron AG's solar layout tool.
My thesis was titled "Hand-tracked 3D Data Selection of Point Clouds in XR": a Unity XR application that uses signed distance fields to select regions of any shape in real time.
Completed Bachelor's degree in Computer Science with specialization in Design and Management at FHNW (iCompetence), including an exchange semester at Reykjavik University.
